After a quiet weekend with lots of time to think, I had a whole long navel-gazing post planned about my problems with the echo-effect. Unfortunately, it was a mentally draining day at work and I don't have the brain cells left to word it. I'm sure everyone's despondent.

So...some notes.

* Old blog will be deleted, new blog being crafted.

* Abandoning twitter for now.

* I've read a few incredible books lately, more than a few of them causing *huge* book hangovers. Am making my way through Jacqueline Carey's new one now...and my TBR list is getting just stupid.

* Wrestling daily with Sharepoint Designer and most days it wins.

* Also wrestling with idiots who don't understand website architecture but think that if they can get their email and surf lolcats, they know how it all works.

* Nano's coming up and since I haven't so much as opened last year's piece more than to read it once a few months ago, I won't be doing it again this year.

* When my Dad was working for the JCoS, he had a saying he used all the time: "Why rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic when you can transfer to the QE2?" I've always loved it, and I'm amazed how often its relevant in my life.

And one parting comment:

* Is it just me or does the NFL look like a few bottles of Pepto Bismol exploded in the locker rooms just before they took the field?

I have to say, I care little for the pink football.

Of all the things I need to have my awareness raised about...breast cancer ain't one of 'em.

It's just such an empty gesture. If they were donating proceeds from all of tonight's games that would be one thing, but to my knowledge that's not what they're doing.

Pretty much. I keep trying to figure out how the $ is flowing over this.

I'll tell you where it's floating. It's floating to all the companies that made the pink shoes, pink socks, pink footballs, pink pompoms, the pink shirts that filled the students section at Penn State (look, kids, no matter what "cause" you jump on right now your school is tarnished, just behave yourself and go to class because nothing else is going to help you), etc etc etc. I'm sure none of those companies made and donated that stuff out of the goodness of their hearts (and I say this as someone to attends what is derogatorily known as the University of Nike).

Yeah, which is why any money I give to charity pretty much goes elsewhere.

Yay for good books! I have a stack of the sitting by my bed looking at me, taunting me with their promisingness. I love that there are people who understand the immensity of a book hangover.

Oh yeah, that hangover can be pretty hard to shake sometimes. I'll keep going back into the book to re-read bookmarks to try and alleviate it. I have more reading time now, so I'm hoping to get the list down under two digit soon :)
