I got this from ZZ on Facebook...but it's too fabulous to not share around.

A thoughtful quote for the day from Mr. Stephen Fry:

"It's now very common to hear people say 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights; it's actually nothing more...it's simply a whine. 'I find that offensive,' it has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I'm offended by that,' well so fucking what?"

Yeah. I feel this way sometimes. But there are people I don't want to offend. I do try not to take it personally if I don't agree with someone else's opinion--unless, you know, their opinion is that I should DIAF. Then I'm offended. Or peeved. Or worried.

Yes. There is much to be said for THE SCROLL BUTTON.

Stephen Fry is gold. If someone says they find something offensive, at least be able to discuss why it offends you.

Also it reminds me of a really interesting distinction that my friend paraphrased, regarding (I think) Amanda Palmer. "There's a difference between 'I'm sorry I said something that hurt you' and 'I'm sorry you were hurt by what I said.'"

Also I'm only 90% sure this is coherent because I'm tired.
