Nov. 5th, 2012 02:29 pmI got this from ZZ on Facebook...but it's too fabulous to not share around.
A thoughtful quote for the day from Mr. Stephen Fry:
"It's now very common to hear people say 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights; it's actually nothing more...it's simply a whine. 'I find that offensive,' it has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I'm offended by that,' well so fucking what?"

Date: 2012-11-05 08:07 pm (UTC)I'm just saying I don't feel the need to go around announcing that it offends me, or making FB posts that it shouldn't be played on the radio, or...anything. When it comes on the radio, I change the station. And that's pretty much the end of it.

Date: 2012-11-06 02:43 pm (UTC)Also it reminds me of a really interesting distinction that my friend paraphrased, regarding (I think) Amanda Palmer. "There's a difference between 'I'm sorry I said something that hurt you' and 'I'm sorry you were hurt by what I said.'"
Also I'm only 90% sure this is coherent because I'm tired.
