I'm now officially without an active fandom. I left Harry behind a few years before the active canon ended, Twilight's active canon concluded with the end of the foreign premieres today.

I was never a part of the Hunger Games fandom, though I'm still looking forward to the movies. If there was an active fandom for The Host, or the Dark Hunters, or Armstrong's Darkest Powers series, I've never found them.

I don't see many things being pimped around much because their aren't many comms on DW and I don't see many on my flist there talking about fandoms. LJ used to be the place to find that stuff, but I've notice a lot of LJ peel-off in the last two years or so.

This makes me kind of sad. Especially since Goodreads is a terrifically crap place to talk about books.

The big new fandom (huge, really) is Teen Wolf, for the MTV series. That and Merlin and the Avengers are the ones I see with the most activity going on, although HP is certainly still fairly active, at least in the H/D side of things. The series may not be active, but the writers are.

I forgot Sherlock, and I don't even know the Lizzie Bennett Diaries.

I'm thoroughly addicted to Teen Wolf as a series, I'll admit, and I've dabbled in fics. I love the characters so much, and also love that MTV doesn't pull punches with them.

Another good non-book series is Haven, where I have an OT3 and a wish for a more active fandom. I mean, people babble on Tumblr, which is cool, but I don't see much outside of that. It's still considered a small enough fandom to be eligible for Yuletide.

I've been OT3ing Haven since very early on (it's actually one of my Yuletide requests this year). I saw a lot of rambling and guessing about this episode before it aired. I just watched it myself (was finishing it while typing to you :) ).

I hope you like Teen Wolf. Give it the first few episodes... somewhere around 3 or 4 is when Kev and I were hooked. We went through the entire first season in just a few days. Jackson is love, Stiles is love, Derek is growly (and thus, reminds me too much of my own Marcus, and I'm in love). Loads of pretty. Lydia is the best most underused character on the show. There are a lot of really good things about how they construct people and relationship, and well, there are always mistakes, too. And most important, the cast seems to have a blast with it, and that chemistry translates into the show, and it works. At least it does for me. :)

I don't know if you'd like it or not (because your really never know what someone else might take to) but I have fallen head over heels with The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. The fandom is mostly on tumblr and Twitter. It's not quite fandom was we've known it, but I haven't been this excited about a fandom in ages.

I've totally gone through those long fallow periods without a fandom. Sometimes the break is good.

Yeah, I've been without a fandom for a long time now. I like things that have big fandoms but I don't feel like getting into it all again right now. Or I just don't love anything enough to delve into all the nonsense that goes with fandom. I really do miss it sometimes.

I haven't been an active part of 'a fandom' for years now and have to say that in some ways it's nice - I get to be part of wider Fandom without the nonsense of the fandoms themselves... but I do miss a lot that way. I think it's why I tend to use FB to keep in contact with people.

It's ten years since I joined HP fandom and found youse guys. I stayed in fandom because of youse guys and I'm glad I still keep in (some) contact with the people I got along best with... but there's nothing like being in active fandom. That's what all those writers and commentators don't get when they try to write about us.

And you never know what's round the corner!

I've never been involved in fandoms much so I can't really steer you toward any. Reading some other suggestions, I think you should give Teen Wolf a try.

I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix if you have that.

I've been in that place for quite some time - it's quiet and lonely and makes me feel a bit nostaglic for the good ol' days in HP fandom. *sigh*

I know, right?

The D/hr corner of the HP fandom is still alive, I think, so I've been hanging around there ever since the books ended. Then, recently I tried to see how the H/Hr ship was doing and it's pretty much extinct. I don't even know if there are good h/hr fic writers out there anymore.

I've never been active in the Twilight fandom or The hunger games. But if there was a The Host fandom, I'd gladly join. Have you seen the trailer?

At first, I was disappointed that Ian didn't play a big part in the trailer, but then I read a comment in the Host comm that made a lot of sense: When we picked up the book we only knew about Mel/Jared/Wanda... Wanda/Ian came as a surprise (at least for me) with slow development.. so it makes sense that the trailer doesn't spoil people who haven't read the book to something that will happen in the end. :)

I'm so so so excited for this movie!! Can't wait!

And talking about books adaptation to movies: Cassandra Claire's The Mortal Instruments released its teaser trailer too. I haven't finished reading the first book yet (didn't grab me so much) but the movie looks good. Maybe I'll try to read the book again, before the movie comes out.

I love every scene from the life in the cave, how Wanda starts to be a part of the community and everyone gets used to her. I wonder how they're going to show Wanda and Mel's conversations... because they all happen inside her head...

Yeah.. even if I like it, I doubt it will be enough for me to be a part of its fandom. How long are we going to wait until another HP or Twilight-like phenomenon comes along? I miss being obsessed about a book sequel coming out.

Except from one scene that I clearly remember reading in the Draco trilogy, the book and the fic aren't alike at all (well, maybe the main male character has Draco's fandom personality). Not like The Master of the Universe and the Fifty Shades trilogy, at least :P
