Jul. 9th, 2012 01:59 pmWell. It's been a topsy-turvy day in Libbie-land, starting bright and early with the shocking news that my company is being bought by another one.
VP says not to worry or start dusting off our resumes (and because he's a real no BS kind of guy - I believe he *would* tell us to do that if our jobs were in jeopardy.) It'll be a nine month-year long process at the very least, and I'm going to use this little kick in the butt to start taking a few classes at the community college. Just to fill in the gaps of current knowledge, and make it look better in print.
Then came the highlight.
From a review left at ff.net for Crash Into Me:
Would it be really predentic of me to whine about the constant changes in how
you present each chapter?
General consensus is that he/she meant "pedantic."
Well. It made me laugh.

Date: 2012-07-09 06:25 pm (UTC)Best of luck with the job. And the classes!! He's right -- most often these kinds of purchases mean a long term rollover, because even if there's a redundant department, there's specialized knowledge that needs to be transferred. When my last company was bought, I was told in October that I was being laid off... with an end date of the end of March. Then they still needed me to consult after that through the following September. I think they would've liked me to consult longer but I couldn't handle having two jobs.
*HUGS* (that's just because!!)

Date: 2012-07-10 01:01 am (UTC)I just came back from dress shopping, lol. Apparently the buyout company's CEO is going to be in our building tomorrow, and she knows our VP really well (he worked for this company before coming to ours) so chances are, she'll stop by. Cue "professional attire" emergency.
